Hey Streetwalkers. This is a throwback episode with Mighty Mighty BossToneS frontman & founding member of The Defiant Dicky Barrett. Dicky first appeared as guest for the 400th episode on 2.26.24  It was such a compelling & fun episode, l decided it needed to be re-visited! Enjoy this throwback episode, tell a friend, and thanks for listening!  Dicky Barrett Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Richard Michael Barrett. Better know as Dicky; he is also called The Godfather of Skacore. Dicky is former frontman and founding member of The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, and current frontman and founder of the new super group The Defiant. In this episode, we chat about how he came to be the bow-tied plaid leader of The Bosstones, and some of the cool things he got to do along the way. He tells the story of getting to open for The Misfits while he was still in high school, as well as getting to play Fenway Park many years later. Dicky shares stories of meeting and befriending Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel when they were just getting started; and some of the fun things he got to do as a result of these friendships. Adam uses Bosstones' songs in the intro and outro of his Adam Carolla Show podcast; and Dicky was the announcer for Jimmy Kimmel Live for nearly 20 years. Of course, I ask Dicky if I can play my all time favorite MMB song... and he says yes! Obviously we discuss how MMB ended up in the cult classic iconic film Clueless, and what made them decide to do it. Next, Dicky explains what happened between him and the other Bosstones, as well as his relationship with the Jimmy Kimmel Live late night show. Finally, we discuss his new band The Defiant. This super group features former members of: The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, The Offspring, Smash Mouth, Street Dogs, and The Briggs. The Defiant is: Pete Parada, Greg Camp, Johnny Rioux, Joey LaRocca, and Dicky Barrett. Their debut album "If We're Really Being Honest" was released in late October 2023. Naturally I ask him if I can play my favorite song from this new album.... and Dicky said yes again! I had such a blast talking with Dicky, I think we are best friends now! Don't be surprised if you hear more from Dicky on Fascination Street Podcast. This dude is rad as balls. Thanks Dicky! And thanks Mike Dawson, you know what you did.

Debora Masterson - Author (Freedom Quest: A Love Story)

Debora Masterson Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Debora Masterson. Debora is an author who just released her debut novel! 'Freedom Quest: A Love Story' follows the story of Grace and Michael who fall in love in the mid 1960s, break up, get back together, and some bits of the incredible life that happens to them during the space between. This book is roughly 85% true according to the author. The character of Grace is Debora, and the character of Michael is Craig. Debora's real life soul mate Craig Ingraham was a musical phenom and a prolific songwriter. He also lost his way, fell into some rough circumstances, and even unwittingly joined a cult! This book is a wild ride. There are drugs, mayhem, love, loss, cults, music, dancing, and even some famous people. Available wherever you get books, 'Freedom Quest: A Love Story' is also in the process of being turned into an audiobook. There is also a companion Spotify playlist which has songs from the actual band Freedom Quest, recorded back in the early 1970s. In this episode, Debora shares some of her personal reasons for writing this book, some of the fun times between her and her soul mate, and some of the stuff that didn't quite make the book. We also take a bit of a dive into her experiences with transcendental meditation (TM), and even a local historical landmark that she helped save. Buy the book, listen to the playlist, and check out the short documentary that she & Craig made to honor their fallen friend in Vietnam.

episode Henry (Beyond B3) Returns! - Street Artist Turned Fine Artist artwork

Henry (Beyond B3) Returns! - Street Artist Turned Fine Artist

Henry (B3 Beyond) Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know even more about return guest Henry. Previously known as "B3 Beyond", Henry previously appeared on the show back in December of 2024. Back then he was an anonymous graffiti / street artist. These days he has given up that life of crime, to become a more gallery focused artist. In this episode, we chat about his growing up in The U.K. and what made him switch his outlook and style from the street to the gallery. We cover some of the changes that made him lean in this new direction, and we also discuss some of that previous street art and where those pieces remain today. Now Henry's messaging seems to be focused on bringing attention to kidney disease; a condition that he is all too familiar with. Henry shares what his Kidney condition is, how long he has had it, and what it means for his everyday life. He also shares some startling information about who has it, how many suffer from it, and the staggering amount of folks who may not be aware that they have it. Then we discuss some of the finer points of his new art. He talks about some of the techniques he is working on and studying at university. Again, Henry resides in The U.K. just outside of London, but since we last spoke, he has made a trip across the pond, to The United States. I pepper him with questions about his trip, and where he went, and what he was doing here. Then he explains to me that while it was a refreshing change of scenery, it did inform some of the projects that he is working on. Some of Henry's current works have a decidedly political bent. As listeners of the show will know, we don't talk politics on Fascination Street; but we do deftly discuss his works and the reasons behind them. His art is beautiful, and you can see some of it on his Instagram page and his website. Both of which he shares in this episode. Make sure you check out his work, and if you are so inclined, grab a piece for yourself. I have a couple and they are major focal points on my studio wall.
