Descripción

Listen to Episode 11 of our podcast Justice Ain't Cheap: There's Power at the Margins!  Funders for LGBTQ Issues President Saida Agostini-Bostic sat down with Black LGBTQ organizers Jonathan Jayes-Green, Director of the Black Migrant Power Fund (BMPF), and Rose Berry, Co-Director of the Black LGBTQIA+ Migrant Project (BLMP), to discuss their involvement in the immigrant justice movement. This episode offers a powerful conversation about why it is important for philanthropy to recognize the absence of Blackness in current conversations about immigrant justice and explores how philanthropy can invest in Black migrant communities and organizing infrastructure. This episode is accompanied by an issue brief produced by Funders for LGBTQ Issues and sponsored by Liberty Hill Foundation, focusing on immigration and the LGBTQ communities in the U.S. Check out this issue brief here: https://lgbtfunders.org/research-item/immigration-brief/

Justice Ain't Cheap: TRANScending Voices featuring Aldita Amaru Gallardo

TRANScending Voices is part of Funders for LGBTQ Issues' main podcast, Justice Ain’t Cheap. This mini-series is dedicated to sharing the stories and experiences of trans leaders who are not only living authentically but also reshaping the landscape of philanthropy and shifting the narrative around funding, visibility, and support. This mini-series is hosted by Alexander Lee (he/him), Deputy Director of Funders for LGBTQ Issues. In our second episode, Alex interviews Aldita Amaru Gallardo. Aldita is a philanthropic consultant, resource mobilizer, and founding director of the Action for Transformation Fund. She is an experienced grantmaker and donor organizer and serves on the Boards of Directors of Funders for LGBTQ Issues and the Women's Foundation of California. In this episode, Aldita reflects on her experience as a queer immigrant, how she got involved in this work and the world of philanthropy, and what she has learned.
