Danny analyses technology, finance and the human condition as Partner, Research at Lux Capital, a venture capital firm investing in emerging and growth-stage science and technology ventures. He publishes the Riskgaming podcast and newsletter and develops Riskgame scenarios. He is also a Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, and has published research on semiconductors, technology and economic development with City Journal, the Foreign Policy Research Institute and the National Review. Prior to Lux, he was managing editor at TechCrunch as well as previously a foreign correspondent based in Seoul, South Korea. While there, he wrote more than 1,000 news stories and longform analyses chronicling U.S.-Asia technology relations, semiconductors, data infrastructure, fintech, disaster and climate tech, venture finance, product development, and a wide number of other complex subjects with technical and policy intersections. In this episode we continue discussing the future, but this time around we also offer a fascinating interview with Cho Khong, who let’s us in on his experiences from Shell — and there is a lot to learn there! More about our interviewee below: Cho-Oon Khong is a scenarios practitioner and geopolitical analyst, who focuses on using scenarios in thinking through political futures He has led, advised and participated in scenario projects with international organisations, governments, universities, research institutes and business companies from across the world. He teaches as a core faculty member on the Oxford Scenarios Programme, has guest lectured on scenarios, politics and geopolitics at a range of universities, and has served in advisory positions on a variety of academic bodies. Cho has over 27 years’ experience advising on political trends and political risk for the Shell Group, where he was Chief Political Analyst and a senior member of the Shell scenarios team. He led Shell’s external environment assessments for country and regional strategy reviews, and advised, designed and led focused in-depth scenario projects on a range of topics of strategic business significance for key decision makers. Cho also took a leading role in developing Shell’s Global Long Term Energy Scenarios from the mid-1990s to 2021. This is a public episode.
