Descripción

Cary Tennis is probably best known for his Salon.com column, Since You Asked -- and irreverent yet kind Dear Abby kind of thing. Hilarious and heartfelt. He went on to teach the Amherst writing workshops at he and his wife Norma's cool home by Ocean Beach -- a marvelous moment in time. Around 2016, they up and moved to Italy for good. Cary continues to teach, play music with Italians, and explore what life is all about via his incredible writings. I was over the moon to have him up to the HSV Radio space and chat about the Haight, SF, punk rock, the good old days, and much more. Check out Cary and his amazing writing workshops in Europe: http://www.carytennis.com

EPISODE #18: Laine Wiesemann: SF Artist, 415 ZINE Co-Founder

Meet Laine Wiesemann ("wise woman" she quips!) a California native, incredible SF artist, and co-founder of 415 ZINE (https://www.415zine.com/) a quarterly publication that she and her colleague Alfredo Sainz -- a fellow SF artist -- founded back in 2023. They've been friends for years, having regular tea and coffee meetings to discuss artistic endeavors and goals. During an outing in the Haight Alfredo busted out paper samples and said, "let's make an art zine." Laine was shocked. "I had an idea for an art magazine just this week!" The name and concept quickly came together. Serendipitous collaboration and enthusiasm has resulted in a fresh zine that aims to promote local artists, and connect people to art, artists & art establishments in San Francisco. The publication is named after the location's area code, 415, a number well known by any native or local. Here's Laine sharing her story with Haight Street Voice Radio, December 2025. Enjoy!
