History in Ten
This episode of the podcast is a look into the Tulsa Race Massacre and Juneteenth. I took a few weeks away from the podcast so I could read, learn, and come back to the podcast with a better knowledge of events that impacted the Black communities in the US and the world. A few weeks before this episode aired, Trump caused a furor over his decision to hold a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 19. At the time, I didn't understand why there was an outcry (other than holding a rally during the global pandemic), but I soon learned about the Tulsa Race Massacre and Juneteenth - dates and events that I'd never learned in school. I started this podcast to learn about and share events, people, and places that may have been footnotes in our history books and history classes. Or in this case, left out entirely. This episode dives into the events of the Tulsa Race Massacre, and why June 19th is such an important date.
