Hole in the Roof Chronicles: A journey of God’s Faithfulness
The story of David and Bathsheba is one of the most well-known accounts in the Bible. It’s often described as adultery — sometimes even suggesting that Bathsheba seduced the king. But a careful reading of 2 Samuel tells a different story. In this episode of Spoiler Alert, we revisit the account in 2 Samuel 11–12 and look closely at the details many people overlook: the power David held as king, the repeated language of “taking,” and the confrontation by the prophet Nathan that places the blame squarely on David. When we read the text in its historical and cultural context, it becomes clear that this wasn’t a mutual love story — it was a tragic example of power misused. Sometimes the story we’ve always heard isn’t the story the Bible actually tells.
