Lisa Tumminello of Big Brothers Big Sisters BIGPride program of Broward County, joins LGBTQ+ Council President, Todd Delmay, in a sit-down conversation at Anniversary Park in Downtown Hollywood for the upcoming My Hollywood Pride Festival. https://myhollywoodpride.com Lisa is a board member of the council and has been organizing the youth zone activity that will take place at Anniversary Park on the festival’s inauguration on January 22, 2022. The youth will take part in creating a mural on a large canvas where they’ll express their pride with the support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. https://www.bbbsbroward.org/big-pride/ The Art & Cultural Center of Hollywood is also going to set up an arts & crafts section where the kids are going to be able to make flags and friendship bracelets. And Big Brother Big Sister is adding an educational element for youth who want to make a pride flag and will be shown the different types of flags. https://www.artandculturecenter.org/post/the-inaugural-my-hollywood-pride Lisa is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters on a program that was just started not too long ago called BIGPride and reminding viewers that there is such a need for mentorship and defenders of potential. [here we’ll add a link to clip 101-mentorship] [12:18 min.] LGBTQ+ Council President, Todd Delmay, reminds the audience that Hollywood was the first city in Florida to fly what’s known as the Progress Pride Flag. This historic flag is going to be flying in Anniversary Park on the My Hollywood Pride Opening Ceremony & Flag Raising on January 22, 2022, at 12:45p. https://fb.me/e/1wQ6ZAo50 This conversation is about the celebration and the need for mentors & allies. Lisa reminds listeners that you can’t put people in a box and everyone needs to understand it’s about inclusion. [15:42 min.] My Hollywood Pride is also celebrating that Hollywood has achieved a 100 score on what's called the Municipal Equality Index Score. “When we first started looking at this a few years ago, we were at a 49 out of 100 and it wasn't that Hollywood wasn't an accepting place, but we recognize that we weren't making our voices heard and saying that this was something important to us. We helped raise that score from 49 to 70 to 83 and this year to 100. Part of our celebration will of course be of that score but really it is just celebrating that there are people of all kinds that are welcome here.” – Todd Delmay https://southfloridagaynews.com/State/fort-lauderdale-west-palm-wilton-manors-among-six-cities-in-south-florida-to-top-hrc-s-2021-equality-list.html?fbclid=IwAR21oK5Bx3P4KpF5KPToVCoRjiQdGsrVJJwTFTWQRuS-cHx7VL-kqtZRLiE Get your free ticket today on Eventbrite! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/my-hollywood-pride-tickets-175846490587 Follow the LGBTQ+ Council on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. https://www.facebook.com/HlwdLGBTQCouncil https://www.instagram.com/hollywoodlgbtqcouncil/ https://twitter.com/LGBTQHlwd [add LinkedIn link here] #transgender #lbgtq #queer #equality #lesbian #gaypride #bisexual #hollywoodfl #pflag #safeschools #myhollywoodpride
