episode Dr Susan Palmer- Gather My Crew App artwork

Dr Susan Palmer- Gather My Crew App

Today, Rachelle and Jen from the 'Honestly, you are So Brave' podcast talk to the amazing Dr Susan Palmer, a psychologist with many years of experience working with Oncology patients. Susan noticed that many patients were unable to partake in psychology treatments because their basic needs weren't being met first. She also realised that young women find it so difficult to ask for help as we feel like we need to  look like we have it all together (I was so guilty of this)! Her solution? The Gather My Crew App! This amazing app helps patients match a member of their crew with a task that needs completing. You know those offers of 'please let me know if I can do anything?' Well, the Gather My Crew app is the place to point them. Have a listen to find out more about how this app can help. We so loved interviewing this inspirational lady, thanks for your time Susan!  Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2233579/support] https://sobrave.org.au/ [https://sobrave.org.au/] https://www.facebook.com/sobraveofficial [https://www.facebook.com/sobraveofficial] http://linktr.ee/sobraveofficial [http://linktr.ee/sobraveofficial]

So Brave talks with Kate Perkins, OT and Lymphoedema Therapist, Bounce Back from Breast Cancer

Today, Rachelle and Jen sit down with Kate who founded Bounce Back from Breast Cancer, an online exercise rehab program specifically designed for those going through acute treatments and beyond. Perfect for those living in regional and remote areas who don't have access to exercise therapy locally. Not only does Kate give us some amazing facts on how exercise can promote recovery, she also teaches us about cutting edge laser therapy and how it can help tissue healing after radiation treatment. She hopes to make this therapy available in other states as soon as possible. If you are keen to learn more about cancer rehabilitation, this episode is the place to learn about it! So Brave talks with Helen Beeley, Physio and breast cancer thriver

Listen in as Jen, Rachelle and Helen discuss the importance of a physiotherapist as part of your team during breast cancer, and the impact of lymphoedema. About our guest: Helen Beeley is a physiotherapist with 28 years experience including cancer care, palliative care and lymphoedema therapy. She currently works at UQ Healthy Living - an over 50's clinic in Toowong, Brisbane. Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of Australia's lockdown in 2020. She continued powerlifting during and beyond active treatment. Helen is frustrated that many cancer survivors are not told about the benefits of exercise during and beyond active treatment. Helen has an instagram page  to promote cancer exercise medicine and help fellow cancer survivors manage fatigue, pain and lymphoedema. Check out her imaginative and often hilarious reminders and posts on her instagram page, full of useful and important health advice! https://www.instagram.com/helen_beeley [https://www.instagram.com/helen_beeley?igsh=cTVqcnJpYzNleDhx] Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2233579/support] https://sobrave.org.au/ [https://sobrave.org.au/] https://www.facebook.com/sobraveofficial [https://www.facebook.com/sobraveofficial] http://linktr.ee/sobraveofficial [http://linktr.ee/sobraveofficial]
