Hoop Industry Podcast
Before the MAC Tournament tips off in Cleveland, Spencer Davies and Ty Neal welcome Run The Show founder Steve McNees to the Hoop Industry Podcast! A multi-time conference champion with The University of Akron as both a player and coach, McNees shares his favorite Zips memories from the tournaments he's been a part of. That includes nine MAC title game appearances, including a stretch of seven straight under Keith Dambrot. The guys get into the excitement of March Madness in general, whether or not the MAC should be a two-bid league with Miami's 31-0 season, and predict which teams will meet in the championship. Tied as a top-15 scorer in WPIAL history at Shenango High School, McNees is now coaching his first year at the high school level at Pine-Richland. He dives into his longtime post-career coaching background, which began at UA and Duquesne, and talks about his passion for player development. 00:00 Introduction of Run The Show Founder Steve McNees 03:03 The Relationship Between Ty and Steve 05:46 The Magic of MAC Basketball and Tournament Memories 09:12 Experiences with Akron in the NCAA Tournament 11:58 The Impact of Coaching and Mentorship 15:08 The Challenges of Scheduling in College Basketball 18:06 The Future of MAC Basketball and Potential Bids 20:47 Transitioning from College to High School Coaching 24:07 Building a Basketball Training Business 27:00 Predictions for the MAC Championship 29:50 Closing Thoughts and Future Aspirations at RTS --- THE HOOP INDUSTRY PODCAST IS POWERED BY RUN THE SHOW VISIT RUNTHESHOW.US [http://RUNTHESHOW.US] TO LEARN MORE
