Lori Hamlin- Coldwell Banker's Queen Of Real Estate

King of real estate in Erie, PA Laban Marsh, Entrepreneur Extraordinaire Nedvonne Young, owner of FreshFold Laundry Co in Chapel Hill, NC are here because they are Broker Than You. This episode of BTY is titled "Making The Move" with special guest Lori Hamlin, who has built an outstanding career in real estate, and yes, she also happens to be my aunt. Our full squad dives into a conversation that blends real estate mastery, grit, family ties, and the kind of energetic banter our audience shows up for. Lori Hamlin, isn’t just a seasoned professional — she’s a 40+ year veteran of real estate, a proud representative of Coldwell Banker, and, as I put it, “the queen of real estate in Central New York”. With decades of experience navigating shifting markets, evolving buyer expectations, and the changing landscape, Lori brings a depth of insight that only comes from living the business. Throughout the conversation we explore: Recognizing when it’s time to pivot — whether in career, business, or life. The emotional weight of big decisions, and how Lori learned to trust her instincts over four decades of wins, losses, and reinventions. Understanding the CNY market, why our region unique for buyers, sellers, and agents. Coldwell Banker’s legacy, and why Lori has proudly represented the brand for years. Family dynamics in business, including the fun, candid moments that come from interviewing your own aunt live. The parallels between real estate and the ventures our guys are involved with — from Laban’s Erie-based real estate brilliance to Nedvonne’s creativity in FreshFold Laundry Co. Confidence, preparation, and adaptability as the ultimate tools for anyone trying to level up. 🔹 Why This Episode Hits Hard A conversation blends wisdom, humor, storytelling, and real-world strategy. Lori’s authenticity shines as she shares the highs and lows of a long career, while Laban, and Nedvonne bring the energy, curiosity. Perspective our audience loves. When to make a shift in careers. New or seasoned real estate professionals who make mistakes. People who love honest conversations about ambition, family, and resilience.

episode Networking artwork

Networking

King of Real Estate in Erie, PA Laban Marsh, Entrepreneur Extraordinaire, owner of FreshFold Laundry Co in Chapel Hill, NC Nedvonne Young are here because they are Broker Than You. The guys discuss building networks that actually move deals, not just collecting contacts. It’s a practical, no‑fluff conversation about how relationships become repeatable business — from the first cold outreach to long‑term referrals — and why the right network is the single biggest multiplier for people who are in business in every industry. Why Networks Matter? Access to opportunities — the right introductions open doors you can’t reach alone. Faster trust — warm referrals compress the time it takes to build credibility. Deal flow stability — diversified relationships smooth out market cycles and dry spells. Knowledge transfer — networks surface tactics, market signals, and negotiation moves before they’re public. Event and in‑person playbook Show up with a purpose: not to pitching to gain clients. Get to know people on a personal level, make connections first, because in a normal conversation, we never know where they will lead. Get yourself out there, it doesn't have to be business networking events, be visible in the community. Reciprocity system Give first and give often, but make your help strategic (introductions, insights, or access). Consistent follow‑up Use a simple cadence: value touch, check‑in, ask for a micro‑commitment. Small asks scale into big outcomes. Common Mistakes- Networking without a plan — random coffee chats that produce no follow‑up or measurable outcomes. Always check in, say hello, cultivate relationships. Pitching too early — asking for business before you’ve earned trust. Neglecting weak ties — casual connections often bridge to new markets and unexpected deals. A contact we may underestimate can become a tremendous asset

episode Murphys Law In Business- How we stop him artwork

Murphys Law In Business- How we stop him

Laban Marsh (King of Real Estate in Erie, PA) and Nedvonne “Fresh” Young (Entrepreneur Extraordinaire and owner of FreshFold Laundry Co in Chapel Hill, NC) for a must-listen episode of Broker Than You. It’s packed with talk about someone named Murphy who has some law or “adage” named after him, I never heard of it! A lively discussion, the guys dive deep into Murphy’s Law the infamous principle that “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” We start by exploring its origins and relevance, then break down how it shows up in real estate deals, entrepreneurship, and everyday business challenges. From unexpected wrench-throwing moments and deals falling apart at the last minute (financing hiccups, inspections, title issues, partners going quiet) to the mental side of it all that negative spiral and self-talk that can make things snowball. • Mindset matters: Murphy’s Law isn’t just bad luck — it can become self-fulfilling if one setback triggers negativity. Laban ties it to Proverbs 27:1 and emphasizes staying prepared, grateful, and surrounding yourself with the right people and positive influences (like catching a Hamilton show!). • Proactive vs. Reactive: Fresh highlights the difference between pessimists who accept defeat and make excuses, optimists who look for silver linings. Being able to pivot. • Practical strategies to “Murphy-proof” your business: Expect the unexpected (it often comes in threes!), over-prepare with due diligence, get everything in writing, set walk-away numbers upfront, know your numbers (especially expenses), build systems, and maintain flexibility to pivot when plans collapse. • Real-life stories: Fresh shares a 2008 short-sale deal turned rental during the financial crisis, and Laban opens up about challenges working remotely . Laban and Fresh equip you to prevent Murphy from having the last word through preparation, positivity, and persistence. A great episode to keep Murphy from Meddling. #BrokerThanYou #stevecully
