Descripción

In this episode I sit down with poet, activist and actor Yazmin Monet Watkins. I have been a fan of her work for almost 15 years when I first discovered her performance poetry on Youtube in college. Flash forward a few years and fate would bring us together in an acting class in Los Angeles. For the last 10 years I've known Yaz personally and had the privilege to call her friend. We cover a lot in this episode, the grief that comes as a result of loss, rediscovering how to find joy, being bisexual in a world that doesn't make a lot of space for you, and what it means to be an artist and and activist. Thank you Yazmin for this conversation, and thank you listener for tuning in.

Caroline Kingsbury - Season Premiere Episode

Welcome to season 2 of I NEED MORE GAY FRIEDNS!! I'm so stoked for this debut guest. I'm a genuine fangirl of this guest, and was deep into her lyrical lore long before I asked for the honor of this interview. I get the gay pleasure of sharing my Season 2 premiere episode with the insanely talented, Caroline Kingsbury. She's a pop/rock singer songwriter on the rise. She's also a fellow queer who was traumatized by her experiences growing up in a religious environment. We both bond and commiserate over that shared trauma, while laughing about the hard truths and long-term impact those early beliefs shaped our identity. We go deep into the songwriting process behind her album "Heaven's Just A Flight", the loss of her brother, surviving covid, and songwriting with some of pop's top producers. She's candid, she's talented, and she's learning to allow herself the experience of joy. She's Caroline Kingsbury and you should check out her smash hits "Kissing Someone Else" and "Take My Phone Away" . She's also on tour so you should definitely find out if she's coming to a city near you. I've seen her perform live and I can very confidently say, you will be very happy that you did.
