Illustrated Ministry Podcast
Welcome to The Work of Imagination, a podcast for the sacred season of Lent. These forty days of Lent invite us into the work of imagination—the holy work that begins when we slow down and pay attention to what's hurting, what's unfair, and what needs to change. When the world pushes us to look away or pressures us to stay quiet, Lent helps us notice and then imagine something better. Imagine a world where everyone has what they need. Imagine healing for all. Imagine everyone is safe and free to be. That kind of imagination is powerful. It stirs something in us, and when we let that imagination shape us, we begin to live differently, too. This is the third week in Lent, a season that invites us to slow down, listen carefully, and pay attention to what love is asking of us. Lent helps us to notice where the world feels harsh or unfair, and to imagine how God's care might break through. In the stories of Jesus, we see a world being reshaped, where pain is taken seriously, where voices usually ignored are heard, and where love refuses to stay small. These stories help us practice living as if God's kingdom is already unfolding among us. Whether you're listening on a family drive, preparing a meal, or settling in for the evening, we hope this time helps you reflect, connect, and grow in love together. If you would like to explore more, check out The Work of Imagination Practices for Families PDF. Each week includes this reflection, discussion questions, and our Imagine It. Live It. practices, simple ways to build spiritual habits that ground us in love and justice.
