Kemba's story empowered a national movement against the rise in lengthy sentences for non-violent, first time offenders and also sheds light on how women are among the highest rate of the growing population in mass incarceration. While Kemba has been pardoned and is free to fight for the movement, her cellmate Michelle West is still waiting for such an occurrence. As her way of fighting the fight, Robin speaks with Kemba on how we can all join in on the movement to not only free Michelle West but the millions of other women that were treated as criminals when they were actually victims.
