In this episode we continue the conversation with more tangible ways to involve children in the home in order to help alleviate some of the physical and mental load on parents. We share resources on how to create opportunities for our children to become observant, active participants in their lives and in their homes.  Less parental burnout and more confident, competent, capable and independent children? Sounds like a win-win to us.

How come so many of us parents experience this feeling of “parental burnout”? Is there anything we can do about it? Join us as we explore some of the reasons we feel this way, what has changed over the years and what are some ways we can do things differently for us and for our children to feel less of this ‘burnout’.

Loss of Generational Input

As the world becomes smaller and more connected, our communities continue to evolve into a blend of cultures with more families living farther apart from one another.  Our modern world demands a lifestyle that is different than what we may have been raised with. Distance, working grandparents, and limited or no contact with extended families are just some of the reasons we notice a growing trend of less extended family involvement in the raising of our children and it begs the question— what are we and our children missing out on? In this episode, Mina and Bar dive deeper into their personal upbringings, discuss how dramatically different the rearing of their own children is and try to navigate the sense of familial loss they feel in their parenting journey.

In this episode, we dive deeper into our experiences becoming parents during the global pandemic of 2020, discuss the challenges raising children in environments very different from the ones we were raised in and how we are navigating feeling simultaneously alone and isolated as parents but also connected via social media and technology.

Introduction- Mina & Bar

Bar works with children and parents in mental health. Primarily with young children on the autism spectrum, children with learning disabilities, teaching emotional regulation and self regulation to both parents and children. She is also a yoga teacher with special training in prenatal and postpartum yoga.  Bar uses mindfulness, CBT and yoga in her work with children.  Mina is a kindergarten teacher. She is passionate about early childhood development, literacy and creating community.
