Arthur Ashe Jr.
Today we are getting back on the trend of underrated Black athletes for Black History Month. We are looking at Arthur Ashe Jr. The first Black athlete to win the US Open Title and Wimbledon. He lived a very interesting life as a pioneer for the Black community in tennis, a political activist against racism and apartheid, and someone with a lot of influence in raising awareness and support for AIDS. He was a trailblazer in every sense with an indomitable spirit. Hope you enjoy.
Five Habits To Implement In 2024
Jesse Owens
Jesse Owens was an inspiration in many ways. As a phenomenal Black Man that captured the most of his opportunities at the highest stages, and the embodiment of resiliency as an athlete. He was a huge inspiration to many people, myself included. I hope you learn a bit about one of the heroes of my sport.
Athea Gibson
Today we had a quick episode talking about Althea Gibson, who was the first Black player to compete in the National Championship and Wimbledon. Her life is motivating but also tragic in many ways. I hope you learn a lot from this episode and Happy Black History Month.
Doug Williams
Hello! happy Black history month. I'm happy to be participating in a project in which I will be making episodes on more underrated Black athletes that have had strong influence on the advancement of Black people through their sports tenure. We all know about Lebron James and Michael Jordan and Jackie Robinson which is why I wanted to speak more on Black athletes that did not have as much buzz. I felt it was appropriate to talk about Doug Williams, the first Black QB to start and win the Super Bowl, given the Super Bowl coming up starting 2 Black QBs facing off for the first time ever. I hope you enjoy!
