JMC Jams Season 4
Well, it's Earth Week, and did you know that Earth Day was founded right here at SJSU? Here are the facts right from official sources: "Gaylord Nelson [https://www.google.com/search?q=Gaylord+Nelson&rlz=1C5GCEM_en&oq=earth+day+founded+sjsu&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRigAdIBCDUwMDdqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&mstk=AUtExfAcIXDc7CJjrg6-R5mH1djfhMnQNO43F4kOwG_3ZmHvkLWpNfmmDLpsyWed6SBtSweirqRWeB4s87gpe7HGiJYYbYT-yXCp4QUDWcvoUxmA5n_xXN8YJ5q0shLp7eO_oI-ZtoMKzqzfWgowO2slM8ElRXGIzSwv3ddKj_bXlfJ6RgkhbHQBYyeQ5nntqf2KPvEYZL0jRp0qveqUXN6aLvmfmMsLWcZNQi5mpLeSBXRM8n0l69rPQjiQfxeNRZx3oMWgmwFDtxylkuzGMlBZpOU8&csui=3&ved=2ahUKEwiPsoDto_2TAxXCFTQIHStDL5QQgK4QegQIARAC], a 1939 San Jose State College (now SJSU) alumnus, founded Earth Day in 1970. His commitment to environmental awareness was heavily influenced by his time in California, and SJSU heavily contributed to the inaugural event, notably hosting a "Survival Faire" on Feb. 24, 1970, which included burying a new car to protest pollution." It's an awesome fact that I love to tell everyone about. Earth Day became Earth Week and this semester we have been focusing on sustainability as assignment theme where possible and in particular this week - saying that, we do tend to work on sustainability driven projects most of the time too. Enough with the preamble .... this episode we jam with Philia Beroud from No Bullship, an agency focused on sustainable branding based in SF. Philia is working with students in our Branded Content class with an eye to raising awareness on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically SDG 14 Life Under Water. Philia and I talk about the importance of these goals, we discuss sustainable branding, responsibilities and the workshop. We had such a great Jam that we ran over our alloted 15 minutes and could have carried on all day!
