Daily Devotional Theme: Unity Through Love Read: Song of Songs 8:6–7, Colossians 3:12–17 People can share designer dresses, shoes, luxurious cars, and some even offer their beds to friends in the name of love. But I know of no one who would share their spouse — the one to whom they are joined — with a friend, even for one night! Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the LORD. Song of Solomon 8:6 ESV Ladies and gentlemen, love is a complex, multifaceted emotion and an act of the will characterized by deep affection, commitment, and selfless dedication to another’s well-being. It involves a profound bond, encompassing intimacy, passion, and care, often requiring us to prioritize another person’s needs. Love is not just a feeling, but a deliberate choice to support a partner’s growth, happiness, and overall well-being. This is what makes love pleasant and exciting. Yet it can turn toxic and deadly if mishandled—especially through betrayal of trust. Love is the foundation of unity. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12 NIV Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13 NIV And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. Colossians 3:14–15 NIV Hymn: Love Lifted Me Prayer Dear Lord, You loved us before we loved You. Those who claim to love You yet do not love their brothers and sisters deceive themselves. Give us love to keep us in unity. In Jesus’ name, Amen. By Rev Kenneth Kabanda Katusabe
