Amari Latimer (West Virginia) is 5'10", 230 lbs as a true freshman and is so far ahead of the curve physically it's almost unfair. He's a downhill hammer who spells Cam Cook and keeps one of the most talented running backs in the country healthy throughout the season. Long term, this is his backfield. Derrek Cooper (Texas) was originally projected as a defender — then his senior year running back film showed up and changed everything. He's already 210 lbs, changes angles while getting downhill constantly, and fills a short-yardage role that neither Relique Brown nor Hollywood Smothers quite covers. This is Derrek Cooper's backfield by 2027. Savion Hiter (Michigan) is the one I'm most excited about. A 5-star, 6', 210 lb running back with elite short-area quickness and the long speed to take it the distance. I think he leads Michigan in rushing yards by the end of 2026. If you stacked him up against 5-star RBs from the last five recruiting classes, he'd be one of the top names in that group.
