Finding the Real Problem Inside Us

I’m getting wiser and don’t follow the distractions as far, as often. On my own issues, I can still get distracted too easily. In my work with clients, God has gifted me with the ability to see to the real issue quickly.  Once you see what the real issue is you can begin to make real progress if you have the tools and skills for that problem. In today’s episode, I talk through the process I use with my daughter, myself, and my clients once the real issue has been identified.  Listen to your emotions. Don’t let them drive. Know when emotions are letting you know you need help. I’m passionate about helping women discover the cause behind the obvious problem and giving them practical tools to remedy the problem once it is revealed. This passion comes from the longing I had for so many years as I was trying to grow and change myself. I found most Christian teaching for change focuses on the behavior ot the thoughts and often ignores the events and emotions that created the thoughts and behaviors. In my work, we listen to the heart and follow Holy Spirit. There is no trying to perform our way into God’s presence or favor. We are already there, and nothing we do removes us from his love. I've done hundreds of hours of coaching with dozens of clients. I have written 4 books and produced over a hundred thirty podcast episodes. I have space for two clients right now. How to Stop Feeling Overwhelmed - Ep 131

This summer I have been feeling it a lot.  As I was thinking about how to move out of this cycle of overwhelm I documented the process so I could share it with you.  This week’s podcast highlights 3 phases of getting out of overwhelm. You might only need 1 or 2 of the phases. Sometimes you need all 3. 1. Ask “What is the smallest step I could take to show myself I’m not stuck?” 2. Ask “What am I gaining by staying stuck? How am I benefitting from this?” 3. Identify the thoughts and feelings that are present as you think about what is overwhelming you. I walk you through a real example in my own life. You can hear the difference in thoughts or lies that are easy to deal with and one that hits me pretty hard. I left it raw on purpose. Make Room For More Of God - Episode 129

You can’t make much progress or expect much to happen when there are rocks in the way. God can’t occupy places that are filled by other things. It’s not about Him pouring out more but wanting to heal what’s in the way of you receiving. He’s not mad at you. He wants to heal you. Allow the Lord to move the rocks and fill the spaces they leave behind. As I thought about what he shared, the Lord spoke to my heart, too. 1. You don’t always know the rocks are there until you hit them. 2. Don’t go looking for all the rocks. 3. Follow Holy Spirit’s lead in removing the rocks God has shown you. Is It Even Worth It? - Episode 128

If you have been tying to convince yourself of a truth and it just doesn’t seem to be working it might be because you need to start with your heart instead of your head. Thoughts and emotions are closely connected. Unlike much of what I read on the internet I believe emotions create thoughts, not the other way around. An event happens and you automatically have emotions.  Then you create thoughts about your experience. This happens so fast and subconsciously that it seems like they are automatic, too. They aren’t. You choose what you think. If you didn’t believe that then you wouldn’t be trying to change your thinking.
