FoCoCafe Update

The FoCo Cafe is a non-profit restaurant just north of Old Town Fort Collins providing delicious meals to all comers on a pay-as-you-can basis.  Some people donate more than the cost of the meal, paying it forward so meals can be provided to those who cannot afford it.  There are also ways to help people experiencing homelessness with donations of perishable and non-perishable foods, and clothing.  Executive Director Dexter Beasley tells Rabbi Hillel about all the ways we can help the FoCo Cafe help the Fort Collins Community.

Hate Crimes

Hate crime statistics have gone up drastically in recent months, both nationally and here in Colorado.  And the recent attack in Boulder against Jewish demonstrators has brought the hate crimes issue close to home.  In this podcast, District Attorney Gordon McLaughlin talks about prosecution of hate crimes by his office, and by state and federal agencies.

Church World Service and Refugee Resettlement

The topic of refugees coming to America is a major issue in the country today. Jason Morgan, Community And Volunteer Engagement Officer for Church World Service in Fort Collins, talks about the challenges, and the rewards, of doing refugee resettlement work in the current environment; and about a fun and fund-raising program the CWS will be hosting later this month.

Heartside Hill

Heartside Hill, a project that includes affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity houses, and forever homes for clients of L'Arche, is reaching a milestone in its development.   Cristina Mahon, Moderator of Heart of the Rockies Church tells about the different components of the project, and how it fulfills a long-held dream of the Church's members.
