Today, we hear from Dajonna Richardson about how she lets her light SHINE! Dajonna is a 2024 J.D. Candidate, a native of D.C., and a Howard University alum; she is completing her law degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. With previous experience as a teacher and a passion for legislation, technology, and community development, I decided to pursue a Doctor of Law degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, with a focus on Technology Law, Data Privacy, International Law, and Antitrust. I am expected to graduate in 2024 and obtain a license to practice law in the District of Columbia and Colorado. Daniela is an attorney, compliance officer, attorney ad litem, and implicit bias trainer and was named one of 36 Lawyers Under 36 by the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division and a community worker and volunteer. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Cooley Law School and, before serving as a public defender, worked as a legal intern with the WMU-Cooley Innocence Project. She was a paralegal with Catania & Catania, PA, and served as a legal assistant with Stolbert & Townsend, PA, both in Tampa, Florida. She endez has been involved as a volunteer with several Tampa area organizations, including Palabra De Vida Church Ministry, Everyday Blessings, Trinity Café-Dining with Dignity, and A Kid’s Place. In addition to her law degree from WMU-Cooley, Mendez earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida. Today we hear from Tamika Guishard about how she lets her light SHINE! Tamika Guishard is an educator and filmmaker. Guishard is a first-generation Brooklynite from St. Kitts & Nevis based in Queens, NY. With the mind of a (Park) Ranger, heart of a teacher and soul of a dancer, she taught middle school before completing Tisch Graduate Film and cultivating edutainment from Tenement Museum to Leech Lake Reservation and Tribeca Film Institute. Oscar-qualifying festival selections, proofs of concept for her NYU Purple List, feature-length screenplay were shot, written, directed, and co-produced by Black women. She has fellowshipped with Black Women Film! Canada at TIFF, Athena Film Festival’s LA Writers Lab and Residency Unlimited and is one of seven auteurs selected for Writers Guild of America’s coveted NY Screenwriting Fellowship in partnership with FilmNation. For best pedagogical filming practices and strategic communications, Guishard has been published by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and presented at SXSWedu as well as Center for Education Policy Research for Strategic Data Project. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Tang Institute as well as a team of specialists partnering with DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). The first Black communications professor at Adelphi University, she represents Andover, Schuyler, CUNY, and Penn in addition to her hometown of East New York.
