Light And Incense Podcast
Thanks for watching the Light and Incense Podcast! We hope this episode was informative and provided a meaningful learning experience. Episode Description: In this fifth episode of our third season, "To the Ends of the Earth," our hosts and special guest Michael Mossaad explore the dynamic events of Acts 16–20. They follow St. Paul on his second and third missionary journeys as he navigates diverse cultures, philosophies, and persecutions. From the first entry of the Gospel into Europe to the intellectual heights of Athens, they examine how the Holy Spirit redirects human plans to fulfill God’s timing and how the early Church’s mission continues to "turn the world upside down" today. In this video, we discuss: Redirection, Not Rejection: Exploring how the Holy Spirit blocked Paul from preaching in Asia to lead him to Macedonia, teaching us that mission is about God’s timing rather than just human effort. The Power of One: Reflecting on the conversion of Lydia, the first European convert, and how God often starts with individuals—like a shoemaker or a woman by the river—to eventually reach entire communities. Hymns in the Dark: Analyzing the inner peace of Paul and Silas, who sang hymns while chained in prison, and how their faithfulness led to the miraculous conversion of their jailer. The Unknown God: Discussing Paul’s brilliant approach in Athens, where he used Greek culture and philosophy to bridge the gap between their search for truth and the revelation of Christ. Faith vs. Economy: Examining the riot in Ephesus and how the Gospel is not just a change in belief, but a "theological earthquake" that challenges lifestyles, priorities, and economic structures. A Father’s Heart: Exploring Paul’s emotional farewell to the Ephesian elders, highlighting the necessity of pastoral correction and the spiritual fatherhood required to protect the Church from "savage wolves". Lessons from History: Drawing parallels between Paul's cultural engagement and the "Golden Age" of Coptic-Arabic literature, where the Church used the language of the time to explain eternal Christian truths. Series: The Book of Acts Following our exploration of Christ’s identity in the "I AM" series, we now examine how that identity is lived out through the movement of the Holy Spirit in the early church. This series reveals that the Book of Acts has no end, as the Spirit continues to work through the faithful today to "turn the world upside down". Connect With Us: We invite you to listen prayerfully with your heart and grow alongside us. Please leave your feedback and questions in the comments; we look forward to discussing them in future episodes. Glory to God forever.
