Descripción

In this podcast, I talk about how Ramadan, Passover and Lent/Easter are occurring at the same time for the first time in about 33 years. I had some learning to do this past week as I am a Christian and I have the privilege of religious dominance in the US. We all have blind spots. Are we allowing ourselves to learn from our blind spots? Are we practicing cultural or religious humility when we are faced with such blind spots? I want to know what spoke to you in this podcast. Do You Know Your Race?

Lots of people say they do not think of themselves as “white” or “Black” or having a race. Let’s examine that. The model I am discussing in the recording is Hoffman Integrated Model below from page 23 of The Racial Healing Handbook by Anneliese A. Singh. [https://bookshop.org/books/the-racial-healing-handbook-practical-activities-to-help-you-challenge-privilege-confront-systemic-racism-and-engage-in-collective-healing/9781684032709] The other book I recommend is Why are All The Black Kids Sitting Together In the Cafeteria? by Beverly Daniel Tatum [https://bookshop.org/books/why-are-all-the-black-kids-sitting-together-in-the-cafeteria-and-other-conversations-about-race/9780465060689] I do not use affiliate links.
