Descripción

Karen was the first one of two female union electricians in DC. Why did she choose to be an electrician? What skills and education were required to become a master electrician? What kind of work did she do? How did she manage the challenges in a field dominated by men? Even today, only about 3 % of electricians are women.   Karen’s sister, Lisa Geerman, is a retired accountant. She worked in the Howard County Auditor's Office.    The two sisters grew up together in the same house. Why did they choose such different careers? In today's podcast, Karen and Lisa will tell us their stories.
