Mercy Hill Church Podcast
Our identity as children of God is a profound gift that shapes everything about who we are and how we live. This identity isn't based on our performance but on God's unfailing love—a love so remarkable that John exclaims about it in wonder. Not everyone automatically has this relationship; it comes through repentance and faith in Christ. As God's children, we're in a process of transformation. We are not yet what we will be, but one day, when Christ appears, we will be like Him. This hope purifies us from within. While we still struggle with sin, our lives should be oriented toward righteousness rather than lawlessness. The trajectory matters more than perfection—we're moving 'up and to the right' toward greater righteousness, even with stumbles along the way. The markers of God's children are clear: they practice righteousness, they don't live in unrepentant sin, and they love others sacrificially. This love isn't just words but action—we're called to lay down our lives for others as Christ did for us. Like the moon reflecting the sun, our purpose is to reflect God's glory in our lives through purity, righteousness, and sacrificial love. This transformation happens not through our own effort but through spending time with God and being changed by Him.
