Over the past several weeks, we’ve been learning to see the law differently. Not as a random collection of rules— but as a gift. It is a way of life that marks us, allows us to live with a holy God, and shapes our moral and ethical imagination. It presents a vision for human flourishing. This week marks a turning point in our series: how do we actually begin to understand these laws? Because when we read passages like these, they can feel strange, archaic, even unsettling. Isolating someone with a skin disease? Menstrual cycles and childbirth described as “unclean”? Rules about contact with the dead? These laws feel weird to us. Often, when we encounter these laws, we respond in one of two ways: “We don’t follow this anymore” or “Why would God require this?!” But perhaps a better question is: What kind of law is this?
