Motherhood on the Move
This episode I’m reminded why I love where I grew up in Bucks County (haaay, Bensalem). It cultivated so many memories, opportunities and FRIENDSHIPS that I’m so grateful to have carried into adulthood. This week I’m interviewing a high school friend and fellow small business owner, Ashley Metz of @lavenderashsalon [https://www.instagram.com/lavenderashsalon/], and bantering about all things girlhood, business hood, and my favorite - betting on yourself. The conversation is sooo soulful as Ashley shares her journey as a stylist and salon suite owner. She discusses the challenges of authenticity in social media, her unique salon experience, and the fear that follows opening a small business. She shares her most recent form of self-care (vision boards work, friends!!), how quintessential community support is, and the DESPERATE need for financial literacy - in the beauty industry and beyond. Needless to say, we let our hair down this episode and share some wise words. Key Takeaways * The pressures of social media and authenticity. * Ashley emphasizes the importance of client expectations in hairstyling. * Creating a calm and cozy salon environment is a priority for her. * Ashley took a leap of faith to open her own salon after years of experience. * Financial literacy is crucial for small business owners in the beauty industry. * Self-care is essential for maintaining creativity and balance in life. * Community support among stylists is vital for overcoming loneliness. * Vision boards help clarify personal and professional goals (and are good for the soul!!!). * Teaching financial management should be a part of beauty education.
