Ian Maguire and I have worked together for the entirety of his teaching career. As I occasionally remind him, he is eight years younger than I am, which means I have had the uncommon privilege of watching him evolve from a new educator into one of the most thoughtful, authentic teachers I know... ... Together, we teach two complementary courses at Barnstable High School: Music Production and Contemporary Music Ensemble. Students are often unaware of the thousands of hours that go into honing a craft—the composing, arranging, mixing, and editing that comprise a professional musician’s daily work.
