It Is Not Safe to Be a Woman or Girl Anywhere in The World: Femicide is a Global Public Health Issue

In 2022, the United Nations recorded 89,000 cases of intentional killings of women and girls worldwide. 55% of these murders were committed by intimate partners or perpetrators from the victims own environment. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1,821 Black women and girls were murdered in 2020 in the United States. Why don't we talk about these alarming, disturbing statistics? Is it a case of out of sight, out of mind? Or, if we are not directly affected, is it easy to turn a blind eye? Join Loriann as she discusses some of the issues. Men Are Men Are Men: Ashlee Janae, Celeste Rivas Hernandez and Femicide

Whenever a girl or woman is injured or killed at the hands of boys and men, the first question asked is, "What did she do?" Men and women laughed at Ashlee Janae and said she got what she deserved. People - Black people celebrated her death. To some people Ashlee Janae is public enemy #1. When Celeste Rivas Hernandez is the topic of discussion, people say that D4VD "slept with" her. Minors cannot consent to sex with adults. It is not sex. She was sexually assaulted. I know it makes some people uncomfortable to acknowledge the predators amongst us. The refrain - "separate the man from the music" is insulting.  Call things what they are, even if it makes people squirm. Femicide is the killing of girls and women because they are female.
