Whisper: Choosing Peace

In life, it is essential to recognize what leads us to greater inner peace and what leads us away from it. And if we take this recognition seriously, it tends to deepen naturally, and over time we begin to more easily and quickly perceive what—and to what extent—something will bring us and what this will mean for us as well as for others. That is, not only the positive aspects, but also what kind of responsibilities, debts, risks, and other consequences our engagement in it may bring. Even though it might initially seem that what we desire will bring us more peace and contentment, with this clearer recognition we can begin to see in advance whether it might actually lead to more restlessness, dissatisfaction, and worry. In other words, we’re developing the ability to recognize in advance the price that will need to be paid for what we want—and whether it is truly worth it. And over time, as this recognition increases, things that do not lead to greater peace — or those through which we cause or remain in unrest — naturally begin to fall away, gradually and on their own. With clearer recognition and broader awareness, we gradually keep or choose only those things that lead to deeper inner peace. The rest falls away. What is especially important in all this is that we learn to how to let go of things we once held dear or aspired to. This means that when certain interests, possessions, even relationships and the like naturally fade, we do not regret them or through our attachment sustain them. This recognizing, choosing, and letting go are therefore essential and completely natural steps on the path toward ever-deeper inner peace. This is a public episode. Whisper: Trust

Where there is a lack of trust, doubt appears. When there is doubt, fear appears. With doubt and fear, a wish for control and change appears. And a person who engages in control and the changing of circumstances, nature, animals, and other humans is a person who inevitably engages in wrongdoing. By wrongdoing, a person distances themselves from stability, peace, health, and themselves. And when we’ve distanced ourselves from all that — and most of us have — trust that all is as it should be, and that all that is happening is happening for a reason, also means a return to the awareness that, aside from ourselves, it is not on us to control or change anything or anyone. Therefore, a return to trust is a return to peace and the self. This is a public episode. Whisper: Conservation of Energy

When we find ourselves consumed by jealousy, competition, anger, or similar emotions in relation to others, we must first acknowledge how severely this drains our energy. This recognition allows us to retain some of that energy, which we can then redirect toward understanding the source of these feelings. This shift turns our attention in the right direction — inward, toward self-inquiry. What we come to realize is that others are not the source of these feelings, but that these feelings are merely superficial expressions of our own lack of self-esteem, discontent, and disappointment. This process of self-inquiry itself brings relief, conserves energy, and gradually dissolves the negativity. This is a public episode.
