Host Daniel Kirk interviews Australia Track Cyclist Steph Morton. Steph began cycling competitively at the age of 15 finishing. In 2011 she finished 2nd in both the Keiren and Team Sprint at the Australian national titles. By 2012 Steph paired with vision impaired Australian Para Cyclist Felicity Johnson as her Tandem pilot, a successful partnership that led to them winning gold at the London Paralympics games in the 1km time trial tandem event. Following her Tandem success, Steph returned to her able bodied events winning her first National title in 2013. She has since followed up with back to back podium finishes at both the Commonwealth Games and World Championships, as well as representing Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. In this episode host Daniel Kirk & fellow NEXA Coach Ben Haren talk with Scott McPhee OAM. Scott started cycling in 2006 with the South Australian Sports Institute talent search program and over time progressed to a full scholarship athlete. Scott competed at numerous state and national championships achieving podium finishes across track and road events. Scott spend two years racing Tandems as a pilot for South Australian Para-athlete Kieren Modra during which time they won two world titles in the 4km pursuit and a gold medal at the London Paralympic Games in 2012. Following this Scott raced for a Belgian team and lived in Europe until 2016 when he eventually made the decision to hang up bike, returning to study at university in Adelaide. Scott initially chose to study Law but has since transferred into Engineering. In this episode host Daniel Kirk talks with Olympic Discus Thrower Matt Denny. Matt grew up in the country town of Allora Queensland. He represented his country in the discus at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro at the age of of 20. More recently he won the 2019 Universiade in Naples Italy and came 6th at the 2019 World Athletic Championships in Doha. In the hammer he won the silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Matt's personal best in the discus is 65.47 metres set in Wellington, New Zealand in 2020. His personal best in the hammer is 74.88 metres set in Gold Coast in 2018. Throughout this episode Matt generously shares a lot of detail regarding his planning and training along with some great insights into the mindset of an athletes life. In this episode host Daniel Kirk talks with Carlton Football Club AFLW player Kerryn Harrington. Kerryn grew up in Bendigo Victoria playing basketball and represented Australia playing for the Gems in the U18 competition. She went on to spend time at the AIS and play in the WNBL for the Bendigo Spirit, Bulleen Boomers and Adelaide Lightning. In 2017 Kerryn was signed by the Carlton Football Club and has since carved out a successful AFLW career.
