NGL Bruh: How Do We Deal with Mental Health?!

In this episode of NGL Bruh, we're checking in mentally and emotionally before diving into a real and necessary conversation about mental health—especially for Black men. We talk about how society claims to value mental health, but when it comes to Black men, the expectation is still to stay silent, stay strong, or struggle in isolation. There's rarely space for anything in between, and even less conversation around how to actually take care of our minds. We break down the difference between mental health awareness and real mental health education, and why just talking about it isn't enough if we're not given the tools to navigate it. We unpack how the idea of "being strong" can actually be harmful when it replaces vulnerability instead of supporting it, and how doing the inner work is what truly builds strength and helps break cycles of generational trauma and silence. And of course, we end with our Ask Ya Bruh question: What would it look like if emotional health was taught to Black boys the same way we teach them to be tough? Let us know what you think in the comments! Not gonna lie bruh… you're gonna wanna hear this.

NGL Bruh: Are They Really the Opps?!

In this episode of NGL Bruh, we're checking in mentally and emotionally before diving into an uncomfortable but necessary conversation about gender, power, and division. We talk about how society subtly pits men and women against each other—and why women often end up carrying the weight of that manufactured tension. From performative empowerment to unspoken competition, we're unpacking how these narratives are created and who actually benefits from them. We break down the illusion of empowerment versus real power, question whether men are less emotionally manipulated by social expectations, and explore how social media, validation culture, and gender roles keep us distracted from building genuine connection. More importantly, we talk about what it would look like to stop falling for the divide and move forward with more honesty and awareness—together. And of course, we end with our Ask Ya Bruh question: If you stripped away gender expectations, social media validation, and performative friendship—what kind of connection would you really want? Let us know what you think in the comments! Not gonna lie bruh… you're gonna wanna hear this.

NGL Bruh: Is Accountability Always the Move?

In this episode of NGL Bruh, we're digging into what it really means to hold your homie accountable — and why it's not always as simple as calling somebody out. From understanding the true definition of accountability to recognizing when silence is the more strategic move, we're unpacking the difference between intention and impact in real friendships. We break down the moments when holding someone accountable is actually more about your emotions than their growth, and why self-accountability has to come first. Because if you're not checking yourself with the same energy you bring to your boys, are you really trying to help… or just trying to be right? And of course, we end with our Ask Ya Bruh question: At the end of the day, is holding someone accountable about their growth — or your need to feel right? Let us know what you think in the comments! Not gonna lie bruh… you're gonna wanna hear this.

NGL Bruh: Can We Be Creative?!

In this episode of NGL Bruh, we're diving deep into what it really means for Black men to be creative. From cultural and family expectations to the weight of masculinity and vulnerability, we're unpacking why creativity doesn't always feel "safe" — and how that impacts how we show up in art, expression, and everyday life. We sat down with our artist Armand to talk about his journey, his thought process behind designing the podcast's flyer, and the deeper connection between creativity, freedom, and resistance. We also explore how the "productivity trap" can pull Black men away from their creative side — and why representation in art and media matters now more than ever. And of course, we end with our Ask Ya Bruh question: What would it look like if Black men felt just as safe being creative as they do being strong? Let us know what you think in the comments! Not gonna lie bruh… you're gonna wanna hear this.

NGL Bruh: Are Homies Really Homies?!?

In this episode of NGL Bruh, we're checkin' in—on our friendships, our definitions of connection, and what it really means to be known. Just because we kick it, chill, or laugh together... does that mean we're actually close? Or are we just familiar strangers in each other's lives? We dive into the difference between real friendships and performative closeness, and why so many of us settle for surface-level bonds in a world that rewards appearances over authenticity. We also explore the illusion of connection in the digital age, what true friendship feels like, and how to tell when someone actually sees you—not just your highlights. And of course, we wrap it up with our Ask Ya Bruh question of the episode: Who in your life really knows you—and how did y'all get there? Not gonna lie bruh… you're gonna wanna hear this.
