Descripción

Jake started his professional journey as a light operator and lighting designer in the live music industry at just 17 years old. Despite being the youngest amongst most crews, his skills aren't inferior to those of older road dogs in any way. He has been working and touring with bands like Kosheen, Wet Wet Wet, Florence Black and SKYND, as well as various festivals in the UK - and doesn’t shy back from becoming the frontman's/women's very own doppelganger, if needed.

Cale Conrad - Audio Talk! FOH for Poppy, Quinn XCII,,.. S4 EP10

This week, we’re joined by Nashville-based FOH engineer Cale Conrad — a name rooted in the pop world, but with experience stretching across genres. Cale dives into what it really takes to get a head start in the live sound industry, and why where you are can be just as important as what you know. From building opportunities in a music hub like Nashville to navigating your first gigs, he shares practical insight for anyone looking to break in. We also get into his mixing philosophy — a thoughtful “less is more” approach to plugins, trusting your ears over overprocessing, and the surprising reason he never mutes his channels before a show. Whether you’re an aspiring engineer or a seasoned pro, there’s plenty here to rethink and refine your approach.
