February 26th On this day,  In 1869, The United States Congress passed The Fifteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which prohibited states and the federal government from denying a citizen the rights to vote.  It, however, only applied to males.  It was duly ratified on March 30, 1870. February 27th On this day, Anna Julia Haywood Cooper rose to become one of the best-educated Black Women ever.  She went on to earn a PhD at the Sorbonne in France, and excelled as an educator, university founder, author, sociologist, feminist, and an activist against all oppression.  She published a seminal book, A Voice from the South, considered to be one of the first major works on feminism.
