Our Water Table Podcast
The Our Water Campaign at Pittsburgh United is taking back the narrative with a new monthly podcast called Our Water Table Our Water Table is a podcast rooted in the belief that water connects every one of us therefore, everyone gets a seat at the table. At its core, Our Water Table podcast works to: 🚰 Demystify Water Science 🚰 Restore Relationship to Place 🚰 Center Those Most Impacted 🚰 Expand the Table to Include Community Voices In recognition of World Water Day, Our Water Table Podcast partners with the Environmental Justice Table (EJT) to explore the powerful connection between water, community, and justice in Allegheny County. This special episode brings together advocates, organizers, and community voices to reflect on why water must be treated as a human right and how equitable water management can support healthier neighborhoods. The conversation begins by grounding listeners in the global significance of World Water Day and what it means locally for residents across Allegheny County. Guests discuss how access to safe, affordable water is not only essential for health and dignity, but also a key component of environmental justice. The episode then turns to stormwater mitigation, unpacking how flooding, runoff, and aging infrastructure disproportionately impact environmental justice communities. Through this discussion, listeners learn about the importance of green infrastructure, community-informed planning, and policies that prioritize resilience where it is needed most. Finally, the episode highlights the ongoing work of the Environmental Justice Table (EJT)—a collaborative initiative working to ensure that residents from historically overburdened communities have a seat at the decision-making table.
