This week Miriam speaks about her failure at Western Exceptionalist Ashkinormativity. Kidding, kind of. Jews have plenty of existential yearning. This is a moment that Jews in the Diaspora and Holy rollin’ (or not) types here in Israel have cried and actively not cried more than we ever wanted to. Being a mother in Israel since October 7, 2023 means that we are thinking of how the world will be for our children. Will my little boy drive a tank someday? Will my daughter need to carry a rifle on her back while running errands? Maybe, I hope not. They are the best generation and I know that with all the pain they may endure, they get all of the benefit of being a Jew. And that works for me.
