Class 2: Romans 8:1–4

Reading the New Testament as Old Testament Fulfillment

In this class we consider the manner in which the early church received and celebrated the OT in light of Christ's illuminating interpretation. For them, the OT promised what they now saw fulfilled in the messianic ministry of Jesus.

Class 3: Kickoff and Rebellion (Creation Fall and Flood)

In this class, we consider the first 11 chapters of Genesis in light of the original context in which it was given. Moses wrote these chapters to explain sin and outline hope for the wilderness generation.

Class 2: Reading the OT as Christian Scripture

In this class, we consider the NT author's comments on the OT and learn to view the OT as Christian Scripture that speaks of Christ's sufferings and subsequent glory and the Spirit-empowered mission of the church.

Class 1: Introduction

In this class, we introduce the series by considering the message of the Bible and the roles that the OT and NT play in developing that story.

Class 2: Romans 8:1–4

In this class, we explore Romans 8:1–4, reflect on the process of memorization, and consider the manner in which its theology encourages and strengthens the church.
