Peace, Power and Purpose Podcast
Marine Corps veteran and former K9 handler Alfred Brenner joins Steve Morris on the Peace • Power • & Purpose Podcast for a powerful conversation about war, grief, trauma, healing, resilience, and finding purpose after loss. Alfred served as a United States Marine Corps K9 handler and deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, where he experienced the realities of combat, the responsibility of protecting others, and the unbreakable bond between a Marine and his working dog, Grief. But Alfred’s story did not end on the battlefield. After returning home, he faced the invisible battles many veterans carry: grief, trauma, identity, loss, and learning how to move forward when life looks completely different than you imagined. Through Surviving With Grief, Alfred now uses his experiences to help others understand that healing does not mean forgetting. It means finding the strength to keep moving forward. In this episode: • Life as a Marine Corps K9 handler • Deploying to Afghanistan • The bond between a handler and military working dog • Combat experiences and coming home • Navigating grief and loss • Veteran mental health and healing • Finding identity after service • Turning pain into purpose This conversation is about more than war. It is about love, loss, resilience, hope, and discovering that even through our hardest seasons, our story is not over. Stay the course.
