Pieces To Wellness
This week we're getting down and dirty with our demons. Often, we hear people talk about fighting their demons. As usual, the Instigator and the Yogi start there and branch out to discuss other less-familiar perspectives. What would it look like to engage our demons in other ways? What are our demons anyway? In his book, Tim describes mental-emotional demons as "brain gremlins". In other circles they may be considered to be negative narratives, self-talk, or inner messaging that can be hard to ignore. We wonder, what if our gremlin-demons represent unmet needs or expectations? What if they contain valuable information or insights about our needs and priorities? And in that case, what if we listened to what our demons have to say? Karen shares that many of her inner demons once served to protect her from fear, including fear of failure. These demons created the illusions of safety and control. When we face our demons, and maybe even befriend them, how can that set us up for a fuller, better future? Some people choose to suppress them and we feel that can often encourage the demons. So we urge you to feed your demons with love and understanding, bring them into the light and out from the shadows. Maybe you can even unmask them or even, befriend them.
