A story as inept as Jim Benning as general manager... or perhaps will lose a power struggle with YouTube like Iron Mike did. This is the Vancouver Canucks, a testament to failure in professional sports. The greatest playoffs in professional sports... wasn't all that great. There were plenty of blowouts, lopsided affairs, and duds throughout the hockey world. Not to say it was all bad, the occasional game seven to appease the palate was blessed to us (mostly by Montreal stealing away people's dreams in the middle of the night). There were legendary runs, there were injuries aplenty, there were players who struggled to do much of anything whatsoever.Regardless, only two teams remain: The Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes. Both teams relatively evenly matched, both analytical darlings that have found incredible goaltending form from their maligned netminders.

The NHL Playoffs may be well into their festivities (with plenty of pain to go around), but we have to remember the sixteen other teams that failed to make it entirely. There was plenty of golfing to be had over the past month (and more to come), but the reasons they failed throughout the year were varied. Some are starting rebuilds. Some are struggling to break out of them. Some were wrecked by injuries. Some had everything fall apart. Some are simply doomed. And some are the Canucks. It will be the end for a few former stars, both on their current teams and (for some) their careers entirely. Coaches fired, GM's canned, new regimes taking center stage in the great play of hockey itself.This episode is in dedication to their failures, both big and small. May they continue to be trainwrecks for our enjoyment (particularly division rivals).
