Queer Therapists Talk Wayward
Episode 7 -"Ascend” Fabulous and nerdy queer/trans psychotherapists Avery (they/them) and Em (they/them), team up to deep dive into the psychology of Netflix's Limited Series Wayward starring Mae Martin. They discuss major themes in the show like the mother wound, queer/trans representation, filming production elements, and seek to answer big questions like "what's really going on with all that brie?" Each episode invites a guest for even more nerdy cuteness. The fabulous Jules Peithman Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California, joins them to discuss Episode 7 “Ascend” Jules Peithman AMFT (she/they) is a queer, Filipina, mixed, neurodivergent therapist and educator based in the Bay Area. They received a Masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies and a Masters in Special Education from University of Nevada Las Vegas. Their work as a psychotherapist focuses on grief, life transitions, queer relationships, and guiding clients back to their own intuition and knowing. Their work is shaped by sikolohiyang pilipino (Filipino psychology), relational ecotherapy, somatic, existential and transpersonal approaches, and is rooted in ancestral knowledge and critical race and ethnic theories. In her psychotherapy work, Jules works with diverse individuals and couples within the Bay Area both online and in the forest. Prior to their career as a psychotherapist, they worked as a high school special education teacher working with teens in both Oakland and Las Vegas. Jules occasionally teaches as an adjunct professor at California Institute of Integral Studies in the Integral Counseling Psychology program.
