Gunsmoke: Dodge Podge - When Hate Pulls the Trigger

Dodge City is enjoying a rare quiet spell - green prairie, fine weather, and the trail herds not yet arrived. Marshal Matt Dillon and Chester take a moment to savour it. Then a commotion in the street pulls them up short. Lafe Sutter has his son Packy by the arm, furious that the boy rode into town alongside Jason Royle - a quiet, book-reading sheep man Lafe despises. The beating is interrupted, but the damage is done. Dillon tries to keep a lid on it - talking to Packy, cautioning Royle, warning Sutter. None of it sticks. By morning, Packy has vanished, Royle has ridden out toward the Chiricahua Mountains, and Sutter is convinced the man he hates most in the world has taken his son. When a homesteader reports a light burning in Royle's cabin that same night, Sutter rides out before Dillon can stop him. What follows is a single gunshot from the dark - and the worst possible ending to a feud built on nothing but fear and pride. Dragnet: The Big Cheque - The Paper Trail Runs Out

Sergeant Joe Friday and his partner Ben Romero are two months deep into a forgery case that keeps slipping through their fingers. A well-dressed, middle-aged man has been working the small shops of Los Angeles - meat markets, liquor stores, grocery stores, delicatessens - cashing worthless cheques for $15 or $20 at a time, always with the same story, always the same careful handwriting. Their prime suspect, career forger Stanley Bubeck, turns out to have been sitting in a Utah jail cell the entire time. The investigation goes back to square one, the cheques keep coming in, and the merchants who can least afford it keep eating the losses. It was Christmas morning in Los Angeles, and Detectives Joe Friday and Ben Romero were already at a churchyard crime scene before sunrise. The victim: a woman with no identification, lying in the rain-soaked grounds of San Andreas Cathedral. The only clues were a cheap fountain pen, a door key that fit no lock anyone could find, and a cast of boot prints from the wet earth nearby. By the time they identified the woman as Maria Camacho - a 38-year-old seamstress who had been drinking her way through Christmas Eve in the bars of East Los Angeles, the trail was already cold and getting colder. Friday and Romero spent the next two days canvassing every bar in the neighbourhood, tracing Maria’s last movements from cantina to cantina, from the testimony of bartenders and busboys to the quiet workbench of a shoeshine man on Chicago Street.
