Descripción

In this episode, we sit down with Carla Garcia, a mind–body coach and sound healer whose story begins in Crenshaw, Los Angeles. Growing up in an environment that demanded constant hyper-vigilance, she kept her nervous system on high alert, yet she carries deep gratitude for the sacrifices her parents made after immigrating from Mexico. Today, Carla transforms her lived experience into purposeful work—supporting people with chronic pain, guiding them through nervous system healing, and creating safe spaces through sound work and community care. Her journey reminds us that where we come from shapes us, but how we choose to heal can transform entire communities.

Xinia Bermúdez: A Path Built on Compassion

Xinia shares her journey to becoming an immigration lawyer, a path rooted in courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice. As a Supervising Attorney in Miami Beach, she stands alongside survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, and other crimes, advocating for those who are too often unheard and doing so with so much heart. From her early work in civic education, human rights, and Congress to representing families impacted by the Zero Tolerance policy, Xinia’s story is one of purpose and service shaped by deep care for her community. We also talk about the emotional weight of this work, how she creates boundaries to protect her spirit, and how running and training for marathons has become a powerful tool for balance and healing. We are deeply grateful for her and cannot wait to share more of her story with you. A note to our listeners: In this episode, our guest shares real and sometimes heavy experiences from their work as an immigration attorney. Some stories touch on trauma and unsafe environments.
