Read Write with Shlok Sharma
First episode of Read Write w/ Shlok Sharma! I didn't realize how much time I can actually spend talking to myself–I interrupted myself so much it was like being part of a (bad) duo. I used the terms "anyway" and "this whole thing" a lot; it's a little like having a trademark. Some say I'm a big deal around these parts. Anyway, I talked a lot about a lot of different artists and their working styles. I don't really endorse what they believe politically, and I don't believe what they endorse either. I wouldn't have to say this unless I was talking about Kanye West. He does, unfortunately, come up. I also talked about a bunch of books I read over the past year. The year isn't over but I wanted to do a quick indexing to put a little pressure on myself about reading more. Here are the books I read over the past year that I discuss: 1. My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante 2. August Osage County by Tracy Letts 3. The Story of a New Name by Elena Ferrante 4. Orientalism by Edward Said 5. More, a Memoir of an Open Marriage by Molly Roden Winter 6. Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante 7. Capital in the 21st Century by Thomas Piketty 8. The Story of a Lost Child by Elena Ferrante 9. Intermezzo by Sally Rooney 10. Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber 11. James by Percival Everett Very excited to share more stuff–still not quite sure what this podcast is. All music that's part of this podcast is made by me (Shlok Sharma).
