One of the things I believe elected officials should do is educate voters, not just repeat consultant-tested talking points. A Facebook comment claiming that only “illegals” lost Medicaid benefits gave me an opportunity to explain something many Americans don’t know: millions of retirees rely on Medicaid to help pay their Medicare Part B premiums. When that assistance disappears, the consequences are very real. This piece isn’t about scoring political points. It’s about making sure we’re arguing from the same set of facts.
