Descripción

DOUBLE PORTION – Episode 6 Crossing Over 📖 2 Kings 2:1–14 In this episode of Double Portion, we journey with Elijah and Elisha through one of the most significant transitions in Scripture. As Elijah is taken to heaven in a whirlwind and his mantle falls to Elisha, we are reminded that while God's servants may change, God's work never stops. Elisha refused to leave Elijah's side, demonstrating the value of faithful discipleship and the cost of following closely. His persistence wasn't about position—it was about preparation. God was preparing the next generation to carry forward the mission. This powerful passage teaches us that every believer is leaving a legacy. The question is not whether we will influence others, but what kind of influence we will leave behind. 🔹 Stay faithful through seasons of transition. 🔹 Follow God closely, even when the journey is difficult. 🔹 Invest in others and leave a spiritual legacy that outlives you. God's work is always one generation away from extinction unless faithful believers intentionally pass the truth on to those who follow. Who are you mentoring? Who are you discipling? What legacy are you leaving? 🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to live in a way that impacts the next generation for Christ. #DoublePortion #PastorJohn #2Kings2 #ElijahAndElisha #SpiritualLegacy #Discipleship #Mentoring Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Story of Scripture--Day 176 "Victory and Mercy" (1 Kings 20)

Day 176: Victory and Mercy 📖 1 Kings 20 God gave Israel victory even though they had been unfaithful. Why? Because His purpose was bigger than their performance. God wanted them to know that He alone is the Lord. In this chapter, Israel faced overwhelming odds, yet God delivered them—not once, but twice. The lesson is clear: God is not limited by circumstances. He is the God of the hills and the valleys, the mountaintops and the struggles. But the chapter also reminds us that God's mercy should lead us to obedience. King Ahab enjoyed God's blessing but failed to follow God's command. He received mercy yet refused to fully surrender. The same challenge confronts us today. God's grace is never a license for compromise. His kindness is meant to draw us closer to Him, deepen our faith, and strengthen our obedience. ✅ God is faithful even when we are not. ✅ God is Lord over every valley you face. ✅ God's mercy should lead us to greater obedience. ✅ Jesus is our ultimate victory over sin and death. No matter what battle you're facing today, remember: the God who gives victory is also the God who shows mercy. #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #1Kings20 #VictoryAndMercy #BibleReadingPlan #FaithInTheValley #GodsGrace #ChristianLiving #DailyDevotional #TrustGod #JesusIsKing #WalkByFaith #MercyAndGrace Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Story of Scripture--Day 175 "Hope in God" (Psalm 42)

Day 175 — Hope in God Psalm 42 Have you ever felt spiritually exhausted? Discouraged? Like your soul was running on empty? Psalm 42 reminds us that even God's people experience seasons of weariness and struggle. The psalmist cries out, "Why are you cast down, O my soul?" Yet in the middle of his pain, he speaks truth to his heart: "Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him." (Psalm 42:5) Our hope is not found in our circumstances changing. Our hope is found in the unchanging character of God. When the waves of life crash over us, God's steadfast love remains constant. When our hearts are weary, His presence sustains us. When we don't have answers, we can still trust the One who does. Today, if you're walking through a difficult season, remember: ✅ God sees you. ✅ God loves you. ✅ God has not abandoned you. ✅ There is hope in Christ. Don't listen only to your fears—preach God's promises to your soul. 🎙️ Listen to today's episode of The Story of Scripture with Pastor John as we explore how faith clings to God in dark moments and finds renewed hope in His steadfast love. #TheStoryOfScripture #Psalm42 #HopeInGod #FaithOverFear #TrustGod #ChristianPodcast #BibleReadingPlan #DailyDevotional #PastorJohn #HopeInChrist Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Story of Scripture--Day 174 "God Speaks in a Whisper" (1 Kings 19)

Day 174: God Speaks in a Whisper 📍 1 Kings 19 After one of the greatest victories of his ministry, Elijah found himself exhausted, discouraged, and ready to quit. Yet in his darkest moment, God met him—not with judgment, but with compassion, rest, and renewal. 🌿 God cared for Elijah's physical needs before addressing his spiritual struggles. 🌪️ God wasn't found in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire—but in a gentle whisper. 👂 Sometimes God's voice is heard most clearly when we slow down enough to listen. 💡 Elijah thought he was alone, but God reminded him that He was still at work in ways Elijah could not see. ❤️ When we are weary, discouraged, or overwhelmed, God's presence remains our greatest source of strength. Key Truth: God's presence brings renewal when our strength is gone. "And after the fire a still small voice." — 1 Kings 19:12 #StoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #1Kings19 #Elijah #GodSpeaks #StillSmallVoice #Faith #ChristianLiving #BibleStudy #TrustGod #HopeInChrist #DailyDevotional #GodsPresence #SpiritualRenewal #WalkWithJesus Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Story of Scripture--Day 173 "The Lord, He is God" (1 Kings 18)

Day 173 “The Lord, He Is God” 📖 1 Kings 18 On Mount Carmel, Elijah stood alone against 450 prophets of Baal and issued a challenge that still echoes today: > "How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him." (1 Kings 18:21) Israel wanted God and idols. Truth and compromise. Worship and worldliness. But when the fire of God fell from heaven, every false god was exposed, and the people cried out: > "The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!" The lesson is just as relevant today: ✅ False gods always disappoint. ✅ Divided hearts never find peace. ✅ God alone is worthy of our complete trust and worship. Every one of us must answer the same question Elijah asked: Who will sit on the throne of our hearts? ✝️ Mount Carmel points us to an even greater sacrifice—Jesus Christ. On Carmel, fire fell on the sacrifice. At Calvary, God's judgment fell on Christ so that sinners could be forgiven and reconciled to God. Today's Takeaway: Anything you trust more than God will eventually fail you. But the God of Scripture never will. 🎧 Listen to Day 173 of The Story of Scripture and be reminded that there is only one true God worthy of your devotion. "When God shows up, every rival god is exposed." #TheStoryOfScripture #1Kings18 #Elijah #MountCarmel #TheLordHeIsGod #Faith #JesusChrist #BibleStudy #ChristianLiving #TrustGod #DailyDevotional #PastorJohn #JohnBaldwin #GospelTruth #BiblicalFaith 🔥📖✝️ Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]
