Acerca de Rewired Podcast

Rewired is a raw, unfiltered podcast about healing after trauma, addiction, incarceration, and broken systems. We expose the dark side of rehab, recovery, and the institutions that fail us and spotlight the survivors who rewired their lives anyway. These aren’t comeback stories they’re the messy, powerful truths behind real healing. Hosted by Kelly, former Drug & Alcohol Counselor. Rewired is where pain meets resilience. If you’re healing, still fighting, or trying to understand you belong here.

From the Loop to the Lab Coat: Casey’s Story

Casey always felt different .. long before the substances, long before the labels. For years, she was stuck in a cycle of substance use she couldn’t break, no matter how hard she tried. Methadone kept her alive for five years, but it wasn’t the full answer. What she really needed was something she had been fighting for all along: a proper psychological evaluation. Once Casey was finally diagnosed with autism and ADHD, everything shifted. What had looked like “failure,” “relapse,” or “lack of willpower” suddenly made sense. With the right understanding and support, she was able to taper off methadone, reclaim her autonomy and rebuild her future. Today, Casey is five months away from graduating nursing school and becoming an RN. This is a short but powerful story about misdiagnosis, survival, harm reduction, and what becomes possible when people are actually listened to.

episode Unconditional Love Isn’t What We Were Taught artwork

Unconditional Love Isn’t What We Were Taught

Unconditional love gets talked about like it’s soft .. but for many of us, it was never safe, simple, or real. In this episode, I unpack what unconditional love actually means in recovery, and why so many people who grew up in systems of control learned to confuse love with compliance, silence, or performance. We talk about: • How conditional love shapes behavior • Why “earning love” keeps people stuck • The difference between care and control • What unconditional love looks like outside of punishment-based systems This conversation isn’t about perfect parents, perfect partners, or getting it right. It’s about unlearning the belief that you have to be good, quiet, healed, or compliant to be worthy of love.

episode The work doesn’t end here artwork

The work doesn’t end here

This episode is a pause .. not an ending. I’m taking a step back from telling my personal story, not because it doesn’t matter, but because it’s heavy and I believe in listening to myself the same way I tell others to value themselves and listen inward. Rewired isn’t going silent. The work continues through exposing systems that cause harm and by holding space for people to say the hard part out loud .. safely, with consent, and without turning pain into spectacle. Going forward, Rewired will include listener-submitted stories and conversations that connect lived experience to the systems behind it: recovery, coercive treatment, the Troubled Teen Industry, incarceration, and “help” that hurt. You don’t need a full story. One moment is enough. Anonymous is always an option. This pause is not avoidance. It’s alignment.

episode Mom - Case File 03 - Saftey wasn’t the standard artwork

Mom - Case File 03 - Saftey wasn’t the standard

In Case File 03, Kelly rewinds to the years before everything went wrong. The years that taught her to stay small, read the room, and expect punishment instead of protection. Living under constant emotional control reshaped how she understood safety, authority, and love—and quietly rewired her internal compass. This episode explores how trust issues are formed long before the obvious harm begins: • Growing up in a home where rules meant humiliation, not safety • Learning that adults could flip overnight • Why strict control coexisted with dangerous access • How attention from the wrong adult felt like refuge, not threat This isn’t the teacher story yet. This is the setup. The overlooked chapter that explains why certain boundaries didn’t feel wrong at the time and why it took years to name what actually happened. Content Note: This episode includes emotional abuse, boundary violations, and grooming setup. No graphic details.. just the truth.
