Episode 6 - The Supreme Court Fights Against Water Rights Part 2

In June of this year, the Court ruled in a 5-4 decision to severely restrict the definition of wetlands in the US. This overrules years of precedent, rewrites the Clean Water Act, and could have severe impacts on water quality across the nation. Now, up to 63 million acres of wetlands and several million miles of ephemeral streams are at risk of being developed, polluted, or destroyed. This episodes discusses what wetlands are, why they are important, and how the decision will negatively impact water quality across the country.Image Source: Earthjustice, 2022 [https://earthjustice.org/brief/2022/sackett-v-epa-health-of-american-waters-hangs-in-the-balance]Battle Music: The Army of the Minotaur by Makai Symphony [https://breakingcopyright.com/song/makai-symphony-the-army-of-minotaur]

The Supreme Court Fights Against Water Rights Part 1

In this episode, we discuss the Supreme Court Case Arizona v. Navajo Nation, 2023, and how the Supreme Court is reinforcing centuries of state-imposed violence on the Navajo Nation by their ruling. In short, the Court ruled that the US Government has no duty to provide water to the Navajo Nation, despite the reservation facing an active humanitarian crisis. The Navajo Nation is as large as the State of West Virginia and has a population of roughly 174,000 people. This podcast is dedicating to deconstructing the Supreme Court's arguments, and solidifying the need for the US Government o provide reparations to indigenous communities, including providing water infrastructure. Episode 4 - Joe Biden and Joe Manchin Force the Mountain Valley Pipeline Throgh, and the National Environmental Policy Act is Weakened

Joe Biden and Joe Manchin negotiate a deal to force the Mountain Valley Pipeline to be constructed despite overwhelming evidence it is not economically viable and will cause significant environmental impacts. The deal was snuck through the Debt Ceiling Relief Bill, which also included significant changes to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). These changes limit the Federal Governments ability to conduct environmental reviews, and open the door for the oil and gas, and other industries, to conduct business with significantly less oversight.
