Descripción

In this Episode, I invited my friend Josée St-Amand to talk about our childhoods and our experiences being raised by parents that exhibit narcissistic traits. We talked about how we coped growing up, how our upbringing scarred us but ultimately, how healing from both the little t's and big T's of trauma has transformed us. So we're proud to share our ups and downs, the shadow and the light and how our journeys have helped us reveal the beautiful humans we're proud of being and still becoming. P.S. The next episode will be out in May, not in April as stated in the recording. ENJOY! M

EP 7: A black person’s journey is the same but different with Ms. Aishia

In episode 7. Yes episode 7, it's not 5, there was a schedule change. Ms. Aishia, an exceptional therapist and professor, and I talk about navigating life in a world that doesn't seem to want to include everyone. Yes, still in 2024!  We talk about how our experiences in our careers, the corporate world and in life in general, can be seen and interpreted through the lenses of our childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, microaggressions and sometimes overt racism.  How do we deal with all of that?  I reference two books in my intro, "What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma" by Stephanie Foo and "They Called Us Exceptional: And Other Lies That Raised Us" by Prachi Gupta, to explain that this is not just a "black" issue.  To all my racialized sisters, I see you and I know we can sometime navigate the same journey, so you are not alone. This is not an easy topic... So let's please put our biases aside and listen with an open heart and think about our friends, our colleagues and people in our families, that may have experienced some of these very complex and subtle situations. As always, we're here to foster empowering conversations and Sense Healing Every Day! Ms. Aishia can be found on Instagram and YouTube: @mytherapistlife

EP 6: Everything Perimenopause & Menopause Related with Dr. Stephanie Finn

In this episode Dr. Stephanie Finn and I talk about everything Peri and Menopause related. I’ve been wanting to have this conversation for a while on this Podcast. I’ve been through a lot with Perimenopause symptoms and I have a lot of friends and cousins who’ve suffered for a long time not knowing what was happening to them. When I started MHT (Menopause Hormone Therapy) formerly known as HRT, I felt I discovered the Holy Grail and I knew I had to share it with every woman I know. Granted, not everyone has the same experience, I think that it’s an option everyone should know about. Unfortunately, there are many failings in our medical system and sadly enough not all doctors are informed on the slew of symptoms that come fromperi/menopause and still prescribe anti-depressants and sleeping pills, or tell women to exercise and lose weight, while they could simply benefit from MHT! Anywho, who am I to say... Let’s listen to this chat with Dr. Finn to get all the needed information from the expert herself. EP 5: You’ve taken Ozempic* and lost a ton of weight! Now what?

Hello Friends, EP5: You’ve taken Ozempic* and lost a ton of weight! Now what? is now live. As I announced I have a line up of 4 new episodes with amazing guests coming up, starting with Sabrina Noel, Health & Wellness Coach. In this episode we tackle the topic of GLP1s and Semaglutides like: Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro, etc. and weight “loss”. And it’s a different take! Our opinions might surprise you… As always, I say weight has been my teacher. It has led me to a lot of healing and that’s why I believe, and a lot of us out there believe, that we must look at our trauma and what is truly at the root of our weight gain. Why do we overeat, soothe or numb with food? In this episode we talk a lot about Self-Worth, but I want to be clear, there are many different facets to Self-Worth. Some can have a wonderful career, a beautiful home or healthy family life because they believe they are worthy of those things, but still not invest in their health. It’s not all or nothing! So please sit back, have a listen and enjoy, as always, let us know what you think by engaging with us. EP 3: CPTSD and Childhood Trauma with Dr. Rachelle Scott

In this Episode we discussed: - What Trauma is: the big T's and the little t's of trauma - CPTSD vs. PTSD - The Adverse Childhood Experiences tool (ACE score) - Trauma Responses - The 4 F's * Fight * Flight * Freeze * Faun And of course, we discussed solutions and ways to heal beyond: Soothing, numbing and distracting. We talked about different therapeutic approaches like: Conventional Talk Therapy, EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, Compassionate Inquiry by Dr. Gabor Maté, Meditation, Tapping (EFT), Journaling, Psychedelics and more. REFERENCES: Here’s where you can take the ACE score [https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/03/02/387007941/take-the-ace-quiz-and-learn-what-it-does-and-doesnt-mean]: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/03/02/387007941/take-the-ace-quiz-and-learn-what-it-does-and-doesnt-mean And apologies, I couldn't remember her last name. I blame childhood trauma. Wink! Where to read more on Dr. Caroline Leaf [https://www.instagram.com/drcarolineleaf/] who is an advocate on sharing therapeutic tools on rewiring the brain.
