Panther Pulse Radio "Backstage with Rickey Smiley"

The "Panther Pulse" podcast at Simms Elementary recently went on location for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes interview with nationally syndicated radio host and comedian Rickey Smiley. The interview, conducted at the Historic Arena Theatre in Houston, by Mr. Neely in Smiley’s professionaldressing room, highlighted a unique "full-circle" story of Birmingham, AL roots and professional excellence. The conversation explored a 40-year history between the two, beginning as high schoolers in the early 1980s. While Smiley was a proud Woodlawn High School Colonel, Mr. Neely represented the rival Carver High School Rams. Despite the cross-town rivalry, they shared the stage at Woodlawn’s legendarytalent shows—a connection that eventually led them to become professional colleagues at Cox Radio (95.7 JAMZ and KISS FM) and Radio One (Majic 102.1 and 97.9 The Box).
